Mikhail Kaneyev (1923 - 1983)

  Mikhail Kaneyev was born on April 5, 1923 in the village of Kaneyevo, Chukhlomsky District, Kostroma Region. In 1951 he graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts named after I.E. Repin (Rudolf Frentz workshop). He was engaged in Mikhail Avilov, Ivan Stepashkin, Yuri Neprintsev. Participation in exhibitions since 1953. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists  since 1953. He painted urban and landscape landscapes, genre paintings, etudes from nature. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1982). Professor of Leningrad State Pedagogical University named after A.I. Herzen (1980). Mikhail Kaneyev's works are in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, in numerous museums and private collections in Russia, Japan, Britain, France, the USA and other countries.
