Igor Veselkin was born on March 8, 1915 in the town of Ranenburg, Ryazan province. In 1947 he graduated from the Repin Institute of Fine Arts, Mikhail Bobyshov's workshop. He was a student of noted educators Alexander Debler, Boris Fogel, Alexander Segal, and Mikhail Platunov. Participated in exhibitions since 1946. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1947. He painted portraits, landscapes, still-lifes, genre compositions, sketches of costumes for theatrical productions. Candidate of Art History (1951). Professor of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad behalf I. Repin (1989-1997). Igor Veselkin's works are in the State Russian Museum, in museums and private collections in Russia, Germany, France and other countries.
