Peter Belousov (1912 - 1989)

  Peter Belousov was born on May 16, 1912 in the city of Berdyansk. In 1939 he graduated fromthe Painting department of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (the workshop of Isaak Brodsky). He also was a student of Mikhail Bernshtein, Pavel Naumov, Alexander Lyubimov, Vladimir Serov. Participated in exhibitions since 1930. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists  since 1940. He painted portraits, landscapes, genre and historical compositions. The most famous were the works on the Leninist and revolutionary theme. Personal exhibitions in Vologda (1959), Moscow (1982). Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1970). Meritirious Artist of the RSFSR (1978). Corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1979). Professor of the of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. (1961-1989). Works by Petr Belousov are in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, museums and private collections in Russia, Great Britain, France, the USA and other countries.
