Yuri Belov was born on May 27, 1929 in Leningrad. In 1955 he graduated from the Painting department of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (Rudolf Frentz workshop). He was a student of Vladimir Serov, Peter Belousov, Ivan Sorokin, Ivan Stepashkin. Participates in exhibitions since 1954. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1960. He paints portraits, landscapes, still-lifes, genre and historical paintings. One of the main themes of the 1960s and 1980s was the image of Lenin, the history of Bolshevism and the revolutionary movement in Russia. Personal exhibitions in Leningrad, Moscow, Pskov, Lviv, Novgorod, St. Petersburg and other cities. Works by Yuri Belov are in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Japan, the United States and other countries.
