Alexander Stolbov was born on June 5, 1929 in Vyatka. In 1958 he graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts named after I.E. Repin, workshop of Iosif Serebryany. Engaged Vasily Sokolov, Valery Pimenov, Vitaly Valtseva, Borisa Lavrenko, Boris Kharchenko. He had participated in exhibitions since 1959. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1961. He painted portraits, landscapes, genre paintings. Since 1966, he tought at the Leningrad Municipal School named after V.I. Mukhina. Personal exhibitions in Leningrad (1982) and Pskov (1988). Works by Alexander Stolbov are in museums and private collections in Russia, Britain, France and other countries.
