Gleb Savinov was born on September 27, 1915 in the village of Natal'evka in the Kharkov province. After the beginning of the Great Patriotic War Savinov served in parts of the Baltic Fleet, including the defense of Leningrad. He draw a distinction in battle soldiers, wounded in the hospitals, also participates in the preparation of exhibitions of artists of the Red Army devoted to the fighting troops of the Leningrad Front and the Baltic Fleet. He had many military orders. In 1940 he graduated from Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (Alexander Osmerkin's workshop). He studied with Pavel Naumov, Mikhail Bernshtein, Nikolai Radlov, Henrikh Pavlovsky, and also with his father Alexander Savinov. He was participated in exhibitions since 1940. His graduation work, painting named "Childhood Gorky", was awarded first prize in 1940 in Moscow at the All-Union Exhibition of graduation works of Art Institutes and Colleges. In the same year Gleb Savinov married his classmate and talented artist Olga Bogaevskaya. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1944. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1973). He painted portraits, genre and historical compositions, urban and landscape landscapes, still lifes. He taught at the Institute of Fine Arts named after I.E. Repin (1945-1947), at the the Leningrad Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design (1949-1979). Personal exhibitions in Leningrad (1991) and Petersburg (2005). The works of Gleb Savinov are in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Italy, the United States of Great Britain and other countries.
