Samuil Nevelstein (1903 - 1983)

  Samuil Nevelstein was born on March 22, 1903 in Kherson. In 1931 he graduated from the Institute of Proletarian Fine Arts in Leningrad (since 1932 - Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture). I studied with Vasily Savinsky, Arkady Rylov. He has participated in exhibitions since 1928. Member of the the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1935. He painted portraits, genre compositions, landscapes, still lifes. He worked in the technique of watercolor and oil painting. He headed the school (1936-1940). Personal exhibitions in Leningrad (1944, 1956, 1964, 1968, 1985). The works of Samuil Nevelstein are in the State Russian Museum, in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Germany and other countries.
