Dmitry Maevsky was born on May 17, 1917 in Petrograd. In 1935 he successfully passed exams in he Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture , but was not enrolled in connection with the reorganization of the Institute. In 1937-1939 he studied in the art studio, directed by Isaak Brodsky. In 1946-1953 he visited art studios directed by Peter Buchkin and Alexander Kharshak. The participant of exhibitions since 1939. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1955. He painted landscapes, portraits, genre paintings, etudes from nature. In 1970–1980 the works of Maevsky were represented at the exhibitions of contemporary Soviet art in Japan in the Gikosso gallery,[25][26] later in the 1990s at art fairs and auctions of Russian art in France, USA, Italy, England, where his art has become its admirers.The works of Dmitry Mayevsky are in museums and private collections in Russia, the United States, France, Japan and other countries.
