Peter Litvinsky (1927 - 2009)

  Peter Litvinsky was born on November 22, 1927 in Leningrad. In 1955 he graduated from the Repin Institute of Fine Arts, the workshop of Rudolf Frentz. He studied with Peter Belousov, Ivan Stepashkin, Ivan Sorokin. Participated in exhibitions since 1952. Member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1960. He painted landscapes, portraits, still-lifes, genre and historical compositions. He taught painting and drawing in the Leningrad Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design (1962-1979), at Herzen's Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute (1979-1984), at the Surikov Institute in Moscow (1984-1986), in the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Moscow (since 1987). Professor (1989), Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (1996). The works of Peter Litvinsky are in museums and private collections in Russia, Spain, France and other countries.
