Gevork Kotyantz was born on November 12, 1906 in the village of Shusha in Armenia. In 1934-1935 he studied at the Higher Courses of Advanced Training of Artists in Leningrad with Pavel Naumov, Alexander Karev, Rudolf Frentz. The participant of exhibitions since 1930. In 1936 Kotiantz was called to service in the Red Army, in 1939-1940 he took part in the Soviet-Finnish war known as the Winter war of 1939-1940. In 1940 he was demobilized and returned to creative work. In the same year he was admitted to the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists. From the early days of Great Patriotic war Kotiantz in the Red Army on the Leningrad Front. He fought a signalman in the 23rd Army. He was wounded twice, marked by military awards. He painted still-lifes, portraits, genre and historical-revolutionary compositions. In 1990s his paintings successfully participated in exhibitions and auctions of Russian Art in Italy, England, France, Germany,[23] where his work has acquired its admirers. Personal exhibitions in Leningrad (1979) and Moscow (1985). Gevorg Kotyants works are in museums and private collections in Russia, France, Italy, the USA and other countries.
